Year 2003.
Onions (planted for growing over winter) - All 4 quarter rows lifted, ranging in size from small fist to big fist. Click on the picture to see the full crop.
Lettuce (all year round) - Pulled a few out already, and planted another 1/2 row. These have now begun to grow as well, so planted a third 1/2 row. Click on the picture to see one of our lettuces.
Potatoes (First early crop - Desiree) - Harvested 4 rows and got enough potatoes to fill 1/3 of a sack. Click on the picture to see the 1/3 sack full.
Turnip (Early crop - snowball) - Half a row lifted. They range in size from a golf ball to a tennis ball (with a couple of larger ones). Click on the picture to see the full crop.
Peas - Started to pick them 19/6/03. Planted more plants throughout June. See tips for reason why. During June, we've suffered from some MAGGOTY PEAS.
Carrots (New Red Intermediate) - A poor yield so far, due to what we think is CARROT FLY. Have planted some more rows, only this time, we've gone back to AUTUMN KING variety, as we had a good crop of these last year. Still the yield wasn't that good, but it's all down to trial and error when trying new varieties.
Parsnips (The Student) - A good crop, considering we only grow 1/2 a row. Range in size from 8 inches to over 1 foot in length.
Onions (Reds and Whites) – All dug up (about 4 rows in all), and 4 new rows sown to grow over winter.
